About the Art
Our perspective of the world is constantly at odds with other people's perspectives and reality, creating a sense of disturbance when we realize this fact. This discord is what I seek to create in my artworks as I can sense when others may find my ideas shocking by conventional standards. By exposing my own perceptions, my artwork allows for the audience to feel this conflict by comparing their own perspectives in comparison to mine. This dissonance extends to the rest of the world as well, and questions what others’ perspectives might be considered “radical”.
Conflict has always been at the forefront of my artworks, posing questions to the viewer on the true nature of the symbols and narratives. Whether it is the fallout of a relationship gone wrong, the internalized fight over recognizing one’s own worth, or even just the conflicting sensory experiences of our everyday life. By utilizing these moments of tension, I project my own senses onto the artwork while simultaneously disguising them as those of the viewers’. There are, of course, universal experiences that lead one to certain shared conclusions, but not everyone will decide to condemn evil, even when it is caught red-handed.
